A procession of eliminated singers from the 2011 season of The X Factor have returned to the competition, according to reports.

Jade Richards, Joe Cox and Melanie McCabe are among the hopefuls who made it as far as Judges' Houses in last year's run but were not taken through to the live shows by respective mentors Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow.

Richards' audition with Adele's 'Someone Like You' was one of the show's biggest YouTube hits ever after it reduced Rowland to tears.

Carolynne Poole, who was turned away by Louis Walsh in favour of Kitty Brucknell, Sami Brookes, JonJo Kerr, Johnny Robinson and Goldie Cheung, has also returned. She has appeared in Emmerdale since last year's show.

A source told The Sun: "There are a lot of familiar faces but they all deserve to be here. Everyone will be thrilled to see Jade back. If she makes it to the live shows she'll have loads of support.

"It would be silly to say no to such talent just because they've been on before, even if it does run the risk of being a bit repetitive.

"The known acts aren't getting any special treatment but if they impress they will go through to Judges' Houses again."

Alexandra Burke won the show in 2008, after previously being rejected in 2005. Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall had also been turned away twice in the past.
