The Development Linked Data Community Group has been proposed by Christophe Gueret:

The goal of this group is to discuss the standards and best practices to expose Open Development Data as Linked Data.

You are invited to support the creation of this group. Once the group has a total of five supporters, W3C launch the group and people can join to begin work.

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account.

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on site-comments@w3.org

Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team

Hmm… that looks very much interesting, but I’m afraid the description is a bit too short to really figure out what you mean by “expose Open Development Data”.

Is there a link with the approach described in “LD2SD: Linked Data Driven Software Development” for instance ?

One of the thing we (Tim Davies + myself) would like to discuss is a Linked Data perspective of International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). This initiative defines an XML standard format for sharing open aid data, we want to discuss mapping that standard to a vocabulary (in a spirit similar to how SDMX inspired DataCube) and also discuss the gain this represents in term of data usability.

We may however not restrict the discussion only to IATI and also include some other international developement related data set and use-cases.

  • I have looked at this and supporting material. I still do not have a good understanding of the proposed scope. Could someone please define what they mean by “Development”? I can see many possibilities “Housing Development”, “Economic Development”, “Software Development”, is it any of these or something else?
