Britney Spears allegedly staged another walkout at The X Factor USA's final round of auditions, after a drag queen auditionee performed a terrible rendition of one of her classic hits.

The popstar, along with colleagues LA Reid and Demi Lovato, marched off the set of the FOX reality contest, leaving Simon Cowell alone to hear the end of the song.

A source told the MailOnline: "LA Reid couldn't stand it any longer, he thinks it's disrespectful when someone ruins a major artists song, especially when they are sitting right in front of them.

"Britney was looking pretty unimpressed and the next thing all three of them just walked off. Simon was left looking lonely on his own at the desk."

Cowell then apparently told the hopeful: "I don't think [Britney] quite understood your tribute. You've got to be able to sing in tune. There wasn't a note in tune."

An onlooker told The Hollywood Reporter: "This contestant was so horrifyingly bad, they literally couldn't stand it another second."

Though LA and Demi did not return to the desk, Britney did - and said: "I really respect the tribute. It was really nice, but I just don't feel like it's for X Factor. Sorry, sweetie."

The judges will now shoot the Boot Camp phase of the contest, before heading off to film Judges' Houses.

The series returns to FOX in September.
