Remains of the Day: Google Play Gets Updated for Google TV

Google TV receives a Google Play update, Dolphin Garage launches with new add-ons to the mobile web browser, Dropbox adds a small, but significant feature to its web interface, and Instagram adds likes and comments to its web UI.

  • More Entertainment Choices with Google TV While Google TV didn't make an appearance at either Google I/O keynotes this year, it still received an update in the form of new Google Play features that we saw yesterday. Along with a new UI, Google TV will have support for purchasing movies, music and TV shows, as well as subscription billing. [Official Google TV Blog]

  • Launching Dolphin Garage: Bring Your Native or HTML5 Web App to Over 16M Users with Our Open API Dolphin Browser, our favorite web browser for Android, launched an open API portal called Dolphin Garage. This opens up 150 APIs to third-party developers, which opens the door for many more add-ons. Dropbox, Evernote, Pocket, and Wikipedia have already made add-ons for Dolphin that tie directly into the browser's UI. [Dolphin Browser Blog]

  • Undo! Dropbox added a very minor, yet significant feature to their web interface by adding an undo option after users move, rename, copy or delete a file or folder. They also added support for the undo keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Z and Cmd+Z. [Dropbox Blog]

  • Instagram Now Supports Likes and Comments Instagram UI Designer Maykel Loomans tweeted that the Instagram web interface now supports likes and comments on photos. Even though Instagram's web UI is still fairly limited, it's nice to see that they're at least improving it. [@miekd]
