A rejected X Factor contestant threw a microphone at judges of the hit talent show before hitting a producer after they refused to send her on to the next round.

Zoe Alexander, 22, flew into a rage yesterday after judges told her she would not be continuing on in the competition.

The Pink tribute act was furious after she was called ‘average’ by the judges launching into a tirade of physical and verbal abuse. She shouted the C-word at the panel before throwing her microphone towards them.

She then punched a female producer on the nose, leaving her in need of medical attention.

“I have never seen a reaction like it on the show,” said a source. “She threw the mic and her language was bad enough but she struck out at cameras and the producer.”

After yelling at Louis Walsh, 59, Tulisa, 23, Gary Barlow, 41, and Nicole Scherzinger, 33, Zoe stormed off the set, kicking scenery and pushed presenter Dermot O’Leary before assaulting the female producer.

Both the contestant and her father criticised the panel at the pre-recorded audition in Cardiff.

“I lost it and said they were a bunch of c***s”, said Zoe. “I want to apologise to the judges and the audience – but they set me up to humiliate me.” Her father Glen Smith,55, agreed, “They shattered a young girl’s dreams of being a stay for the sake of reviving the flagging viewing figures.”

“Her claims are ridiculous,” said a spokesperson for the reality show. "She was treated like any other contestant and she kicked off. We even gave her a second song to sing.”

"The judges all agreed not to put her through.”

Police were called following the incident but Zoe has not been charged.
