For every successful X Factor winner, there are always a few flops. But even one of the most prolific champions has allegedly claimed that victory on the talent show has had a negative effect on their life.

And the claimant is... Alexandra Burke.

The 'Bad Boys' hitmaker sold an almighty 800,000 copies of her debut album Overcome back in 2009, but after switching from Simon Cowell's Syco label to RCA last year, she has struggled to maintain her chart success.

New album Heartbreak On Hold sold a lowly 6,731 copies in its first week on sale, an astonishing 95% lower than the opening tally achieved by its predecessor.

And trailer single 'Let It Go' didn't do much better, entering and peaking at No.33 before dropping sharply to No.74.

An insider told Reveal: "All of a sudden, her career is going downhill. She’s working as hard as ever but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. She’s really struggling to come to terms with it.

"Everything that could have gone wrong, did. In her her darker moments, she admits it’s been a ‘sh***y 12 months’.  She almost wishes she hadn’t won the X Factor, because so many of her problems seem to stem from that."

Do you think Alexandra can turn it around?
