Nicole Scherzinger's X Factor stumble

Singer Nicole Scherzinger was left red faced on her first day as a permanent judge on The X Factor after tripping in front of a crowd of 5,000.

The former Pussycat Doll beauty signed up for the mentor role on the hit talent show earlier this month - but she had a debut day to forget at the auditions in Newcastle.

The clumsy singer was making her way to her seat on the panel in the Metro Radio Arena when she stumbled, then asked fans, "You didn't see that trip did you?"

When the audience laughed, she replied, "It's my first day, show me some love."

Day one didn't get easier for Scherzinger - she was booed by the crowd after clashing with fellow judge Gary Barlow over an audition that she called "shaky".
