Blackburn give PR chief new job as general manager

Blackburn Rovers PR chief Paul Agnew has been promoted to the role of general manager, following the club's relegation from the Premier League. Agnew, who has been at Ewood Park for 16 years, will take up a seat on the board of directors when he starts his new job next month. The 54-year-old qualified journalist has previously served as chief executive at Preston, and his promotion comes after discussions with Rovers' owners, Venky's.

Honour

He said: "It is a great honour to be handed this opportunity and I will do all I can to help the club to grow and prosper. "Suffering relegation last season obviously hurt everyone involved, but we must not get bogged down with what has been and gone. "This is a time to regroup, look forward and concentrate our efforts only on aspects that we can affect and control."
